David and Joyce have been married for 47 years and are parents of three sons and grandparents of seven. He has two grown daughters, and three grandchildren and is very happy with life. His first encounter with God took place at the tender age of 11, during a church outreach at the school gates. He was invited to a series of after-school meetings, which he attended, but they could not convince him that God was real, so he rejected God, and anything to do with God. Derek hated school and left at 15, in 1966, to begin work as an apprentice electrician. Initially work was great, but at 19, he began to feel discontented. He was in a relationship that was going nowhere, and his friends were experimenting with drugs. He wondered what his life was all about? Derek and Sue Derek drew up a list of what he wanted from life: a career in electronics, a new girlfriend, new friends, independence, and travel. In short, a new life, and a new beginning. Then he saw an advertisement for the Royal Air Force. He left the Royal Air Force in 1983 to begin a new civilian life with his family. Starting work with Marconi Communications, and settling in Chelmsford, Essex, was a new life, and a new beginning for them. Derek was very content with his new life, and wanted nothing more. Then a new church opened across the road from them, and Sue started going, every Sunday morning, and taking their girls with her ... Come along to the Torre Bahia restaurant at 10.00 a.m. on 17th March to hear the rest of Derek´s story. Full cooked breakfast will cost you 5 euros. Click here to find out how to get there. Breakfast 17th March 2012.Married to Sue, Yorkshireman Dave is the father of two daughters, and the couple have four grandchildren under the age of four. He did not grow up in a Christian home, but did make a commitment when he was 17 at a Church of the Nazarene in his native Sheffield. However, over time he strayed from his faith, until at a low point in his life he was allowed a second chance when God gave him a vision, after which he became a member of a Baptist Church in Heathfield. Dave was a body-builder, but not of the Mr Atlas variety! He started work in the motor trade as an apprentice in Sheffield and studied to become a member of the Institute of Motor Industry. He went on to teach motor vehicle subjects at colleges in Yorkshire and East Sussex.
Dave Bray Cars were the love of his life as his hobby was saloon car racing, and he helped to build a steam car to attempt the land speed record, but sadly this was aborted after the withdrawal of their sponsorship. He was Vice-Chairman of a special needs school, and a special constable. A visiting African pastor prophesied over Dave that he would become an evangelist abroad, and this was confirmed by two other separate sources. Now in retirement Dave and Sue moved to Alicante province nine years ago, to evangelise, and talk to people on the streets about Jesus. He now devotes his time to his God-given mission, as well as being active in a growing fellowship in Torrevieja, playing bowls and when he and Sue get the chance they enjoy exploring their adopted country. Come along to the Torre Bahia restaurant at 10.00 a.m. on 17th March to hear the rest of Dave´s story. Full cooked breakfast will cost you 5 euros. Click here to find out how to get there. In 1991, he was made redundant at the same time as his then church asked him to go full-time as an elder. In 1995, the Lord called him to plant and lead King's Church Ilford, South East England. In 2010, he handed over the leadership to pursue a call to Spain. For our March breakfast on 26th March our speaker was Rafael Restrepo. ![]() From a Roman Catholic family his grandmother instilled in him a knowledge of God. At around age seventeen he left home and was soon living recklessly. Breakfast Saturday 26th February 2011. For our breakfast on 26th February our speaker was Patrick Vine from Cox.
Patrick, a married father of three, is known for his wacky sense of
humour. He
was an estate agent and property developer here in Spain but then the crisis came and
almost stopped that. He is now developing a consultancy service focused on
helping people with legal problems related to their properties etc. He also has
a group of contacts that deal with a whole range of services and building work.
"It’s a bit difficult to specify or put in a box" says Patrick. In a
given week he can be translating at the hospital, arranging number plate
changes for British cars, legalizing the situation of illegal houses and pools,
registering properties with the rates office, helping with residencias &
N.I.E. numbers ........... At the moment he tries to limit himself to work in the mornings and make life as fun as possible for his children in the afternoon. About his faith he says: Raised in a Catholic home, I had awareness that something was missing in my life and started a search in which I explored the occult and drug world. At the age of 17 I was stopped in my tracks by having an experience with the risen Jesus that dramatically changed the direction of my life. Patrick, Ines and the kids on holiday
So Breakfast Saturday 13th November 2010. For our final breakfast of the season we had softly-spoken Lou Knight from Manchester. Lou and childhood sweetheart Pat have a holiday home in Camposol, Mazarròn, where they spend in total about 6 months a year. Lou is a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an alcoholic for getting on for 40 years, but it never stopped him providing for his family. He met his wife Pat when they were both just 15, and she stayed faithful to him through the many years of alcohol abuse, and he would come home every night to a lovingly prepared meal, which by the time he got home would have gravy set like concrete. He finally got saved after someone at work witnessed to him. A little while ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but apart from twice-yearly check-ups at the hospital he is refusing treatment as he believes the Lord has healed him. A quiet, normally shy man, his is a powerful testimony of the Lord's ability to change broken lives. . Pat and Lew Knight - "we were on death row. One Word from the King and we were saved" Breakfast Saturday 16th October 2010. The speakers for the October Mojacar breakfast were changed at the last minute and we had two speakers. The first, James McEwan, was born in Sauchie, Clackmananshire, Scotland and upon finishing his education he commenced working for a Whisky Distillery, following which he entered the Scots Guards and later married his wife Margaret in Liverpool in 1961. They lived in the Wirral for 1 year and then returned to Scotland where he worked for United Glass. James and Margaret later moved down to Stafford, to be near Margaret´s mother, who had become a widow, and there he earned a living selling conservatories and insurance. Later they moved on again down to Brighton, East Sussex, where James continued to sell Insurance and also conservatories and windows. ![]() James McEwan in his younger days. We were also blessed to have Leslie and Jean Turner share with us. They were itinerate teachers in Youth With A Mission (YWAM) ministering in Discipleship and Counselling Schools for many years teaching on "The power of the gifts of the Holy Spirit" and "The power of the Cross." In the last year they went back to their roots, so to speak, and have spent several months out in Australia working with YWAM. Even though some people would be taking life easy at their time of life, they felt that they wanted to be used of God, even in their latter years, and that certainly happened in Australia. They have booked flights to return in the not too distant future, to carry on where they left off, and are praying for some "extra leg room" seats to be released to them, due to the length of the journey. Leslie and Jean have lived in Albox, Almeria Spain for nearly 7 years. They have also pioneered 3 Churches in the UK and are now a part of Santa Cruz Fellowship in Albox. ![]() Jean and Leslie Turner

used to drink quite a lot in his teens; and got into arguments and
fights on a regular basis - quite 'normal' really (for “valley

rugby, athletics, cricket, tennis, etc. Roy began his working life as
an Engineering Apprentice. He became the company’s (Cam Gears)

sponsored) ‘Apprentice of the year’ trophy winner. After returning to Glynneath, Roy attended the local pentecostal church whilst again working in the automotive industry, where he progressed to the Executive position of Product Engineering Manager, then later Design Manager, within a multi-national company. Roy was recognised as a champion of change within the organisation, in the fields of product design, management (people and systems), and customer relations. He was involved in extensive international travel for a number of years to Europe, USA, Canada and Japan. Although accepting the pastorate of the Glynneath church in 1992, he also continued with secular employment until 2001, when he entered full-time ministry at Glynneath. After a further 7 years; he and his wife Wendy responded to the call of God to take on the pastorate of Torrevieja Christian Fellowship. Roy is not only passionate about radical and genuine Christianity, but he also possesses a keen analytical mind, which he uses to create “best condition” outcomes from often difficult situation Roy has been married to Wendy since 1972.
