Mojacar Chapter Profile

The Mojacar Chapter of FGBMFI is the fulfilment of  a vision given to David Templeman not long after his arrival in Spain in May 1998,  but it only came to fruition in 2008  after 8 years of prayer, when he found four Spirit-filled men who could identify with the vision of a Chapter in the Mojacar, Almeria province. The curious thing is that three of those men then returned to the UK to live, and the other to Sweden, but God got the Chapter off the ground and added other men to the group.

David Templeman was Membership Secretary of the Diss Chapter of the FGBMFI, in Norfolk, in the 1980s, and below is a photograph of him speaking at one of the FGBMFI Dinners, which at that time were held in the Brome Grange Restaurant, Brome, near Diss. As you can see he was a lot younger then and with a lot more hair!

In 1983 he then moved to St Martin de Londres, in Herault, South of France with his wife and daughter where he built a house with a view of the Pic St Loup mountains, and attended an Assemblies of God Church in the centre of Montpellier which had a congregation of many hundreds of people.

One day at the church God sent a lady to him and she asked him if he was a Pastor, and he said “No” and she seemed very disappointed, but then she said,” Well God told me to come to you, as we want to start a Chapter of the Les Hommes du Plein Evangile" (the French name for the FGBMFI) and then he said “Well I was the Membership Secretary of a Chapter in England” and so she and her husband were thrilled, as God´s directive to her was, as usual, spot on. That was the beginning of a group of men meeting together in the house that David had built on the mountain Le Mas de Bouis, St Martin de Londres for over 6 months, as requested by the French head office of the FGBMFI in Paris , to pray about the formation of a Chapter in Montpellier.

The group of people who met every week in David’s house came from various countries: the Cameroons Mauritania, Belgium, France and of course David and his wife from Britain. The praise and worship was sometimes so vibrant, that they shut the wooden shutters, to stop it echoing around the mountains.

David and his family moved back to the UK in 1987, before the Chapter actually got underway, but it did become a reality, and it was a thrill to know that he had been instrumental in helping that work to start in Montpellier, South of France.   He subsequently met a man who lives only 30 minutes drive away from his and Eileen's home in Spain, a Mr Lesley Turner, from Youth With a Mission, who was a guest Speaker at that Chapter in Montpellier What a small world.

The Mojacar Chapter of course is not situated in an area abundant in industry or businesses, since Mojacar and the surrounding areas are mostly populated by retired people and visiting tourists, but despite the lack of population, each meeting sees a growing number of different people coming along and being blessed.

The aim of the FGBMFI is to get people to come along to a dinner or a breakfast,  where they will hear a man´s testimony of how God changed his life for ever - people who might not accept an invitation to enter a Church, but will accept an invitation to a meal in a Restaurant environment, and then God does the rest, by his Holy Spirit.

The Mojacar Chapter normally has a meeting each month (except for July and August, when temperatures can be as high as 40 centigrade and it is just too hot; folk also have family or friends visiting, or they escape to cooler climes). Each month God provides a Spirit-filled Speaker, who gives God all the glory for entering their lives, as they recount what their life was like previously, how they had a personal encounter with God, and what their life is like now, having a personal relationship with Jesus.

The Bible instructs us to go out to all nations and share the good news of Salvation through knowing Jesus personally. FGBMFI actively supports and encourages church pastors to attend meetings and bring people along, as FGBMFI is not a church, and nobody preaches, but as a man shares his testimony of how God has worked in his life, lives are touched and changed.

If you would like to come along to a ladies and gentlemen´s breakfast meeting with Mojacar Chapter, then we should be very pleased to hear from you.
