Torrevieja Chapter Profile

It is with great regret that we announce that the Torrevieja chapter of FGBMFI is for the moment inactive.

A Special General Meeting of Torrevieja FGBMFI was called on 8th October 2012 following the resignation of the Vice-President/Treasurer David Clarke and the Membership Secretary Sam Rainey, which left a total of 3 vacancies on the chapter executive, of which at least 2 needed to be filled for the chapter to continue.  Unfortunately no-one had come forward to fill the vacancies so the chapter is inactive until the AGM in January. Until that time chapter funds are in the safe-keening of Mojacar chapter.

If there are no volunteers to fill the vacancies by the AGM then the chapter will become dormant.

II anyone feels the call of God to help Terry and Roland run the chapter then please contact us here.

The Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International Torrevieja chapter was started by Stuart Handley, Eddie Martens and Paul Brygider in 2006.

The chapter had its first meeting at the Torrevieja Christian Fellowship church room in Torrevieja,  at the time when Pastors John and Doreen Jessop were leading the church. That meeting was headed up by Bruce Wick, Lionel Ferries and Alan Dunbar from the Marbella chapter. The next day the Torrevieja chapter started with its first breakfast meeting at ‘Murphy’s on the Park’ Torrevieja, with a time of testimony from Alan Dunbar who is a retired police inspector, from the city of Liverpool, and spoke about how he became a Christian in such a high powered job.

After that the Torrevieja chapter has had regular breakfast meetings in the Torrevieja area and in the winter around November has had shared meetings with  the ladies coming along to enjoy a Gala Dinner evening with guest speakers. One of our dinner guest speakers was Welshman Richard Taylor, who was then one of the pastors at Renewal Christian Centre, Solihull; Richard used to regularly appear on television and also wrote ‘To catch a Thief’.  He now leads ‘Victory Outreach’ in South Wales. Another dinner speaker was Pastor Chris Thompson from the USA (who is pastoring a growing church in the UK) and shared a powerful testimony of how he went ‘from drugs to being a Pastor’. The Torrevieja chapter has around 25 to 35 people or more at the breakfast meetings, and as many as 120 have attended the Gala dinners.

The chapter tries to use a variety of different bars and restaurants for their breakfast meetings and Gala Dinners, usually around the Torrevieja area.

The men of the chapter meet for prayer and fellowship, especially before their breakfast or dinner outreach meetings.  Breakfasts, for men only in Torrevieja, tend to be about every six weeks. There are no meetings during July and August as the temperature rises to uncomfortable levels and many members are either busy with visiting family and friends or have escaped to slightly cooler climes.  Meetings resume again in September.

As we try to move forward we would encourage any men to come to our breakfast and prayer meetings, where you will be warmly welcomed.
